On the fourth day of Tech-mas,

This idea to me came:

A Canva presentation

That’s a game!

The winter months are here! As the days grow shorter and the weather grows colder, it can be a special challenge to engage your students--especially if you're using the same old slides templates. If you're looking for a way to jazz up a presentation or activity, Canva has an enormous number of presentation templates ready for you--including almost 300 colorful games and activities!

If you haven't used Canva before, you're in for a real treat! Canva for Education is 100% free for you and your students. Check out our recent blog post for teacher and student account set-up details and, view the teacher video and the student video to see how Canva works with Classroom!

To explore the presentation templates, simply look for the "Presentation (16:9)" shortcut--or, click "Create a design" and then select "Presentation (16:9)." If you're overwhelmed by the large selection, you can simplify your options by typing something into the "Search presentation templates" field in the upper left. Canva presentations are different from Google Slides and PowerPoint in a few important ways:

  1. Canva templates are much more colorful and visually enticing. Prepare to be impressed!

  2. You must present Canva presentations via the "Present" button within Canva. There are several presentation options, and there are even some "secret" animation effects, including confetti rain, curtain calls, and mic drops! Check out Canva's documentation for more details.

Best of all, there is a special category of Canva templates for games and activities! Here you'll find designs for math games, trivia contests, scavenger hunts, and more! Many of the templates are holiday- and seasonal-themed, so you can probably find something no matter what the time of year it is.

Stay Techie,
