On the 5th day of Tech-mas, my EdTechs had my back and shared with me a nifty YouTube hack!
YouTube has become a double edged sword in the classrooms of 2020. On one hand, there are millions of videos that can be useful for virtually any teacher. I use video clips on occasion to help enhance my lessons and keep students engaged. On the other hand, there are plenty of hazards associated with YouTube and educators need to be aware of all of them in order to avoid potential embarrassment. One of the most common issues with YouTube for teachers is inappropriate advertisements that play before, during and after videos. Here I will explain how to use YouTube safely with regard to eliminating ads in the videos you show your students.
For teachers that are trying to use YouTube video clips, here is what you can do to avoid these mishaps. In your YouTube links between the word “watch” and the “?” type “_popup” and your link will now take you directly to the video and avoid any inappropriate ads.
