WeVideo is an online video editor that is easy to use and a great way to increase engagement in your classroom. Whether it is creating videos of your lessons or having students respond to an assignment in a new and exciting way, WeVideo is for you.
It probably goes without saying that the majority of my experience with WeVideo has been in my Video Production class but it can be used in so many different ways. Teachers can upload videos of lessons and edit to include transitions, effects, text, voice overs, etc. Students can be added to classrooms within the program and have assignments sent to them with specific instructions for how they are to edit their video responses using a user-friendly editing interface.
Over the past 2-3 years I have tried plenty of ways to have students engage with lesson material and ways of responding to questions. FlipGrid was something I really wanted to use but students refused to give it a chance. I’m not getting the same pushback with WeVideo and I honestly believe it is because of the amount of freedom students have when editing their videos.
