On the 7th day of Tech-mas, I became spreadsheet-smart
...by using Sheets and making Pixel Art.
With this fancy Google Sheet template, your students can make pixel art and learn some math! Students can calculate area, find fractions or percents of colors used, and have fun while creating an original masterpiece. Push the Google Sheet template out through Google Classroom. students will enter a specific letter into a cell to have the sheet will automatically fill that cell with a specific color!
You can also have students search "pixel art" under Google Images for ideas on what to create!

Stay Techie,
We'd like to thank Eric Curts at Control Alt Achieve for posting this idea.
This is an awesome tool for creating sprites and other digital art for computer programming. My students are getting tired of the provided sprites in their programming tool and would love this easy way to make their own! I have already queued up the introduction to this tool to publish on the first day back to school in January!
Thank you for sharing! <3
Love the pixel idea! Could totally incorporate this into learning area and perimeter!
I used this tip last year with my students. I love that this can be used as a math extension, too. Spreadsheets are under used. If you want to learn more about Google Sheets, check out the textbook I wrote on Amazon called Google Drive Essentials. Good book fie those preparing for Google certifications. ( Book update coming Summer 2019.)
I'd love to use this activity with my kinderkids, making up pictures they can build with colored cubes, let alone color to follow directions!
I already used the snowman template in classes with Kinder through second grade digital art and it was perfect assignment for that age group! Plus we had some pretty creative snow creatures!
